Digimon World: Next Order — FAQ

Quick answers to the most-asked questions about Digimon World: Next Order — platforms, length, raising, digivolution and whether it's worth playing.

About the game

Is Digimon World: Next Order good?
It reviewed as a mixed bag — mid-to-high 60s on Metacritic. Longtime Digimon World fans love its deep two-Digimon raising loop; newcomers can bounce off the slow pace and grind. See our full review.
Is Next Order a sequel? How does it relate to other Digimon games?
It is a modern successor to the classic Digimon World raising-sim line (the original Digimon World and Re:Digitize), not the Cyber Sleuth story-RPG series. It stands alone — no prior game is needed.
How many Digimon are in the game?
There are 232 Digimon, all with full digivolution routes and requirements. Browse them in the Digidex.

Platforms

What platforms is Next Order on?
PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch and PC (Steam). The original 2016 PS Vita version released only in Japan. See Release Date & Platforms.
Is Digimon World: Next Order on Nintendo Switch?
Yes — the Switch and PC versions launched worldwide on February 22, 2023, with the expanded International content.
Is it on Xbox?
No. There is no Xbox version; the game is on PS4, Switch and PC only.
Does it have multiplayer or co-op?
No. Next Order is entirely single-player.

Gameplay

How long is Digimon World: Next Order?
Roughly 40 hours for the main story, and 60+ hours if you take on the postgame and EX scenarios.
Do you really raise two Digimon at once?
Yes — you raise two partner Digimon side by side, feeding, training and digivolving both. A common strong pair is Koromon and Tsunomon (see Starters).
Do your Digimon die?
Yes. Digimon have a lifespan and eventually pass on, reincarnating as an egg that inherits some of their stats. This is the intended loop — each generation starts a little stronger. The Stat Inheritance tamer skill speeds it up.
How do you digivolve?
Each form has exact requirements — stats (HP/MP/STR/STA/WIS/SPD), weight, care mistakes, bond and more. Train toward a target using the Digivolution Guide.
How do you feed and take care of them?
Answer their needs: feed when hungry, let them use the toilet, and rest them when tired. Keeping care mistakes low is the most important early habit — see the Beginner Guide.
Is there a New Game Plus?
There is no traditional New Game Plus, but the reincarnation cycle plus a substantial postgame and EX scenarios keep you progressing well past the credits.
Is it beginner-friendly?
It has a steep learning curve and explains its systems poorly, so the first hours are rough. A beginner guide and a training plan smooth it out a lot.
